Helen Wild, Postnatal Doula
Hi, I'm Helen. I am a mother of two and we have recently moved back to Frome. My husband and I grew up here and it’s been fantastic to reconnect with old friends and enjoy all the changes that have been happening while we were away. Frome is a really special place with loads of brilliant support groups for young families, there’s also some really great independent places that sell mouth wateringly delicious gluten free cake.
I am happiest when I’m with my children in the garden, I’m always trying to get them involved in the growing to eat and use process. My youngest is very much on board with this and spends a lot of his time picking off bits of things to sniff and then just straight up eat – be it mint, sage or lavender, he is not too fussy!
Nature is really important to me; I am actively trying to connect with her as I feel we have disconnected with the medicinal properties of plants. I always feel a difference in my mental health when I have been in the garden or on a woodland walk, I really try to entwine nature and plants into my everyday life. Nature is such a powerful resource that we can nurture and harness to enhance our lives.
As a breastfeeding (and coeliac) mother, I understand the importance of nutrients and making sure you have enough energy to face the day. Gut health is exceptionally important to me, I always have plenty of different cheeses in the fridge, a broth simmering in the slow cooker, a sauerkraut fermenting and some dandelion greens in the freezer.
Lastly, and probably most importantly, I am incredibly passionate about supporting others. We can all achieve amazing things with a little help, and I will always be your cheerleader and your safety net through the beautiful highs and sometimes emotional lows that is motherhood. Birth is one of the most amazing, powerful transformations for a woman; you will emerge as a fearsome empowered being and that is such a lovely transition to witness and be part of.

Providing Support to Mothers, Families and Households
During the Fourth Trimester and Beyond
As a qualified Continuum Doula and a member of Doula UK, alongside personal experience of raising two children, I can nurture you as you evolve and adjust to your new environment.
Support to the mother, the family and the household is so important in the fourth trimester and I can subtly be by your side to ease you into this new way of life.

I offer practical support, such as making a cup of tea or popping a load of washing on. Emotional support, such as taking time to talk over your birth experience or any worries or confusion. And sharing my knowledge, such as discussing breastfeeding positions or signposting to literature, organisations and other information sources.
I will consistently greet you with the gift of time to engage and give you unconditional positive regard.
I am built for chaos and will bring an aura of calm and reassurance to every visit.

Nutrition
I have extensive knowledge of food intolerances, preferences and specialised diets which enables me to adapt everyday meals into a flavourful, substantial and nutritionally enriched feast.

From foraging, growing and sourcing; I can provide bespoke and nutritionally dense food packages to support you as your body evolves during your fourth trimester.

I am a super fan of super foods, a little sprinkle of spirulina or a few toasted pumpkin seeds go a long way. I am a MEGA fan of all things cacao, so expect a decadent chocolate dip for berries and bread sticks, gooey brownies, or an incredibly moreish chocolate and nut protein ball. After all, I think we all deserve a little bit of luxury!
I have a vast loose leaf herbal tea selection to allow me to create bespoke blends to assist with lactation, inflammation, digestion and more. I am very lucky to have my very own tea and herb garden that allows me to grow a wonderful assortment of plants which I then dry and store for tea.
Foraging is a staple for my kitchen and I always carry a bag and some scissors just in case I pass some delicious looking nettles, some plump rosehips or a bountiful elderberry bush. Thankfully, here in Frome, there is an abundance of delicious and nutritious goodies hiding in the hedgerows.
